Prof. Dr. Murat BİKÇEIn this thesis, the static analysis of non-planar coupled shear walls with anynumber of stiffening beams, having flexible beam-wall connections and resting onrigid foundations is carried out. Furthermore, the change of wall cross-section andthe heights of the stories and connecting beams from region to region along theheight are taken into consideration. The stiffening of coupled shear walls is realizedby placing high connecting beams at the levels of whole or partial stories used asstorage or service areas. The analysis is based on Vlasov?s theory of thin-walledbeams and Continuous Connection Method (CCM). In the analysis, the compatibilityequation has been written at the midpoints of the connecting beams. For this purpose, the connecting beams have been replaced by an equivalent layered medium. Thewarping of the cross-sections of the piers due to their twist, as well as their bending, has been considered in obtaining the displacements. The axial force in the piers isdetermined from the differential equation which is obtained by using thecompatibility and the equilibrium equations. Then, all relevant quantities of theproblem are determined employing their expressions in terms of the axial force. Finally, using those analytical results, a computer program has been prepared inFortran language and various examples have been solved. The results have beenverified via comparisons with those of previous works and the SAP2000 structuralanalysis program.Key Words: Continuous Connection Method, Non-planar, Coupled Shear Wall,Thin-Walled Beam, Stiffening Beam, Vlasov?s Theory.I
