Retrospective tenth year evaluation of patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

The aim of our study was to evaluate the patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) who were diagnosed 10 years ago in terms of survival and clinical and laboratory parameters that may be effective in the course of the disease. In this study; demographic and clinical characteristics, laboratory and imaging tests, pathology reports and treatment modalities of patients over the age of 18 who were diagnosed with NASH by performing liver biopsy at Uludağ University Health Application and Research Center between January 2004 and January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The data at the time of diagnosis and the tenth year were compared. Existing comorbid diseases were evaluated. Diabetes was the most common comorbidity and observed in 85.20% (n=23) of the patients included in the study. There were significant difference in AST and ALT levels. A decrease was observed in the AST (p=0.017) and ALT (p=0.002) values at the end of the 10-year follow-up. It is concluded that the presence of diabetes as a comorbid disease and the AST and ALT values as laboratory parameters will contribute to our clinical practice to determine the course of the disease in the follow-up of the disease.
