Özet (EN)

With the industrialization and the increase in population, existing water resources have started to be polluted. The pollution level has reached concentrations that threaten life due to pollutants from different sources. The precursors of these pollutant sources are textile industry, pharmaceutical industry, paint industry, pesticides and urban wastes. Due to the pollutants from these sources, the waters are directly or indirectly affected. Studies have been carried out to remove these pollutants, different methods have been developed and continue to be developed. Today, dyes, surfactants and pesticides occupy an important place among the pollutants in water. Although the concentrations of these pollutants in water are small, they have toxic effects for living organisms. Therefore, the removal of these pollutants is an important and necessary issue. In the scope of the thesis, it is aimed to synthesize thermo-expanded graphite (TEG) by using electrochemical methods in order to remove nonylphenol ethoxylate, which is one of the micro-pollutants, from wastewater. The characterization of the synthesized thermos expanded graphite was determined using SEM, FTIR, EDX, BET and Elemental analysis. Considering the analysis results obtained, an adsorbent was obtained, in which micro-pollutants adhered to thermo-expanded graphite. Thanks to this adsorbent material, a fast, low cost and wide range of applicability process has been designed for the removal of pollutants compared to other treatment methods.
