In ASTM D 4318 two different sample preparationtechniques are described. First is called as wet preparation where asthe second one ise known as dry preparation. In our country wetpreparation technique is not generally used because it is require longertime compared to dry preparation. In addition to this, dry preparationtechnique is applied different from that described in ASTM D 4318. Inthis study which is aimed for the determination of the efect of samplepreparation technique on the liquid limit, 10 naturel soil samples takenfrom various locations were used. For liquid limit determination conepenetrometer test were utulized. According to the test results it wasdetermined that the liquid limit values obtained using wet samplepreparation are 1.2 % to 14.9 % higer than the ones obtained by the drysample preparaion technique.Science Code : 2251101Key Words : Liquid limit, cone penetration, sample preparationPage Number : 47Adviser : Assoc.
