An evaluation of Nur Koçak?s works in the context of pop-art, photo-realism, feminist art and post-art

In this study Nur Koçak?s paintings have been examined within certain limits in the context of pop-art, which starts in 1950s, and photo-realism, which is considered to be a field the trend of pop-art has initiated, and Feminist art under the influence of feminism, and post-art.It can be said that Koçak, as content, makes use of images of popular culture widely in use in Post-art movement and that she prefers the principles of Photo-realism in terms methodology. From the early years of her artistic life, the main themes Koçak deals with in her works are objects that are closely associated with the culture of consumerism, and how these objects are characterized with an image of woman together with the way how woman herself is perceived in society. Although it can not be said that Feminist art has a direct impact on Koçak?s preference of ?woman? as the theme of her Works, it is clear that the problem she deals with necessitates communication with an accumulation of knowledge in this movement. Koçak, who points out that in the history of art, woman, in one way or other, has been a theme of art, has produced her works with a perspective which intervenes in this process. Koçak sees the idea of spreading art to masses as an important element of her own act of art; therefore, both her being familiar with Pop art and her being in Post art which introduces an extraordinary form of communication might be considered in this context.This study aiming at examining Nur Koçak?s attitudes as an artist from different perspectives has been carried out with various characteristics of that time period in mind.
