The values in the social studies program are included in Nurettin Topçu's works

Values are the basic elements of living together and social life. Values education has a strategic importance in terms of preserving and sustaining the existence of a society in a healthy way and has been at the center of the education system in many countries. This education, which started in the family and social environment from the first childhood stage, continues in formal education institutions in the following years. Values education is taught to students in schools mainly in social studies courses. The reason for this is that values education and social studies programs overlap to a large extent in terms of purpose and content. In this research, the views of Nurettin Topçu, one of the most important intellectuals and movements of the Republican Period, were tried to be examined in terms of the values in the social studies program. The aim of the research is to contribute to the education of values, based on the works of Topçu, who is one of our intellectuals who best analyze the Turkish society and the Turkish education system scientifically. The research is qualitative and Topçu's books directly related to the subject were analyzed by document analysis method. This books; Culture and Civilization are Turkey's Education Case and Rebellion Ethics. According to the research findings, most of the values covered in the social studies program are directly or indirectly included in Topçu's books. Root and sub-values are given in a wide variety of dimensions in the aforementioned books, and a total of 324 findings were found. Therefore, it is possible to say that Topçu's works have a very rich content in terms of values education. As a result, it will be beneficial to benefit more from Topçu's views and works in the teaching of social studies and values education.
