Potential of summer destinations in obesity treatment: The case of Didim

Abstract (EN)

Objective: It is aimed to determine the potential of the destinations that are effective for the citizens living abroad who visit Didim in the summer to receive obesity treatment. Methods: Quantitative research method was used in the study. The population of the study consists of patients who came to Didim from abroad to receive nutrition and diet counseling in the treatment of obesity between 1st June 2022 and 30th September 2022. Questionnaires were administered to patients who continued face-to-face or online. Questionnaires were applied face-to-face and via Google docs, and a total of 150 questionnaires were reached. The analysis of the data obtained from the study was analyzed with the IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 25 Package Program. To examine the relationship between categorical variables in the obtained data Chi-square test was used and frequency analysis was performed. Results: Frequency analysis tables were created according to the findings obtained from the research. By looking at the relationships between categorical variables, the relationship between health tourism and nationality and the relationship between health tourism and gender were analyzed. Conclusion: As a result of the research, when the obesity treatment potential of Didim district in the summer is considered within the scope of health tourism, it was concluded that health tourists prefer Didim regardless of their demographic characteristics. The potential of Didim district for obesity treatment is seen. Keywords: Didim Tourism, Health Tourism, Obesity Treatment.
