Özet (EN)

In this study, the effects of obesity on prognosis were investigated in patients undergoing lobectomy due to lung cancer. Between 2010 and 2017, a total of 71 patients who underwent lobectomy due to non-small cell lung cancer, with pathological stages between 2a and 3a, without additional malignancies, and without receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy, were examined.Data obtained from the Hospital Information System (HIS) were analyzed to assess the relationships between obesity and surgical duration, length of hospital stay, overall survival, prolonged hospitalization rate, postoperative complications, and survey duration. According to the study results, an increase in BMI was associated with a decrease in surgical duration, but this association was not statistically significant. Additionally, an increase in BMI was observed to lead to a general decrease in length of hospital stay, but this decrease was not statistically significant. It was found that obese patients had longer overall survival compared to those in the normal and overweight groups, and this difference was statistically significant. Although a decrease in prolonged hospitalization rate was observed with an increase in BMI, the difference between the groups was not statistically significant. No statistically significant relationship was identified between BMI and complications in patients who survived less than 5 years postoperatively. Furthermore, while the surgical duration was shorter in patients with higher BMI, this difference was not statistically significant. Although a shorter length of hospital stay was found in patients with higher BMI after surgery, there was no statistically significant difference.
