Abstract (EN)

According to the planning of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, the construction of the connection road between Anadolu Boulevard and Konya Road, which is planned to be crossed by METU, can be considered as one of the events affecting 2013 in the agenda. The METU Forest Resistance initiated by METU students who opposed the passing of a highway from their campuses, spread to many cities in a short period of time and various support actions were taken to stop the road construction. The social struggle continued between August 2013 and February 2014 has been reflected in the media; various media communicated this resistance and developments related to road construction with positive or negative representations. This study, "METU Road Resistance" news in the press in Turkey in the process were analyzed by content analysis method. The study is limited to the news of the five selected newspapers between August 2013 and March 2014. As a result of the research, it was seen that the newspapers examined the cutting of the trees and the construction of METU Road from different angles; and the ideological positions of the newspapers affected the number of news on the subject, the content of the news and the selection of the items to be transferred.
