Abstract (EN)

In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the relationship between the Attitude Scale to Noise and the Weinstein Noise Sensitivity Scale (WGHO) of undergraduate students of the department of audiology and students studying in other departments and to investigate their Hearing Health Awareness by comparing them. Three hundred (300) people, one hundred and fifty (150) from the undergraduate department of Audiology and one hundred and fifty (150) from other undergraduate departments participated in the study. In order to evaluate the attitudes, sensitivities and awareness of the participants regarding noise exposure, the Youth Attitude Scale to Noise and the Weinstein Noise Sensitivity Scale and hearing health awareness questions were applied via a survey and data were collected. As a result of our study, there was a significant difference in the attitude scales towards noise and hearing health awareness questions of the students studying in the undergraduate department of Audiology, and the results were consistent with our hypothesis. When we look at the correlation evaluations in the same group, a significant correlation was found in the Weinstein Noise Sensitivity Scale and hearing health awareness questions. The importance of the result of our study is that it shows that individuals who received audiology education have a positive effect on their attitudes towards noise compared to individuals who did not receive it and that their hearing health awareness levels are higher. Therefore, in order to protect public health, public education and awareness will be important in preventing and protecting possible noise-related hearing loss.
