Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between Turkey and the selected OECD countries related to educational expenditures and academic success. The content of this study consists of the selected 5 countries (Great Britain, New Zealand, Denmark, Norway and the USA) with the highest degree of educational expenditures and 4 countries (Germany, Italy, Czech Republic and Hungary) with the lowest educational expenditures and Turkey. Educational expenditures cover educational expenditure in the general budget in GDP and per student. The relationship between educational expenditure and academic achievement was determined by the regression analysis data contained in the OECD reports. As a result of the survey, it was found that New Zealand is the country with the highest share in both GDP and the general budget, but among the countries with low spending per student. Italy is within the overall budget, and Hungary is the country with the least share of education in GDP. The share of GDP allocated to education was below the OECD countries, and also it was found that expenditure per student was the lowest degree in Turkey. The largest share of students per student was determined to be the United States. Related to the results of the PISA, it was seen that the countries with high share of education usually have high scores. However, it has been determined that educational expenditures made per student are not enough alone and that they should be evaluated in terms of various factors (number of students, national income, etc.).
