Investigation of a medical faculty in the context of an entrepreneurial innovative university from the perspective of its students

Universities are of critical importance for the scientific, technological, economic and cultural development of the social enviroment. There is a need for educated manpower that produces new ideas and knowledge for social development, and it is necessary to equip the new generation with entrepreneurial qualities in order to put the ideas and knowledge into practice. As a result of this requirement, the entrepreneurial-innovative university model has been discussed in the last fifty years. In this study, based on the opinions of medical faculty students, the perception of the entrepreneurial and innovative university model, its positive and negative aspects, its differences from other universities, and how it can contribute to its students; It also aims to determine what changes and regulations are needed to popularize entrepreneurial-innovative universities. The study was designed with qualitative research method and basic descriptive design. The study group was formed by the students of Altınbaş University Faculty of Medicine. A semi-structured interview form was used as data collection tool. Data analysis was done using the content analysis method. It is understood that The Entrepreneurial-Innovative university model is percieved as institutions that have R&D competence, have the capacity to provide resources for scientific research, increase students' knowledge skills, have faculty members and students with a competitive mentality, and aim to be beneficial to society by the students. It is thought that in order to achieve the goals of training service providers, decision makers, communicators, community leaders, and manager physicians recommended by the World Health Organization there is a need for medical faculties that adopt Entrepreneurial-Innovative University approaches
