Evaluation of professional teaching in imam orphan high schools according to student's views (Example of Şanlıurfa)

From past to present Imam Hatip High schools which are one of the most deep-rooted institutions in Turkey have been discussed in terms of their objectives, structure, programs and students in the field of education. Although they passed ups and downs in the past, these schools have been increased in number rapidly since 2012. Not only numbers of these schools and their students have been increased but also quality of these schools and academic studies that aim to enhance this quality have been improved. In this study, we aim to assess teaching of vocational courses that form the base of Imam Hatip High scools in accordance with opinions of the students' who are oneof the most important share holder of these schools. In this study qualitive data collection techniques were used. Forty-five Imam Hatip High schools'students from five different high scool forms the study group. According to research result, it is identified that teachers' who don't teach these lessons in an energetic mood, who don't take advantage of special teaching techniques and don't include students into the lessons actively are prominant problems in teaching of vocational courses at Imam Hatip High schools. Students'expect from these schools and their teachers to prepare them to university entrance exam, to decrease thenumber of the technical courses in Imam Hatip High schools, to communicate effectively and to increase the number of the social activities.
