The level of students' moral maturity and their attitudes towards the course of religious culture and ethics (Rize province example)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate the relationship between the moral maturity levels of high school students and their attitudes towards the DKAB course. The research was applied to 768 high school students who were selected with random assignment method from the high schools operating in the city center of Rize. The data of the study were analyzed by the means of the SPSS Package Program by gathering them with the Moral Maturity Scale, the Attitude Scale of the DKAB course and the Personal Information Questionnaire. According to the findings obtained from the study, some significant differences in the levels of students' moral maturity were seen depending on students' moral maturity levels, gender, school type, income status, subjective perception of religiousness, the liking of DKAB textbooks, the liking of the DKAB course teacher, the liking of his/her teaching style of the DKAB course. On the other hand, they did not show any significant differences depending on age, class level, mother education status and father education status. In terms of attitudes of the DKAB course, there were some significant changes according to school type, mother education status, father education status, subjective perception of religiousness, the liking of DKAB textbooks, the liking of the DKAB course teacher and the liking of his/her teaching style of the DKAB course. On the other hand, they did not show any significant differences according to gender, age, class level and income status. It was observed that there was significant positive relation in the middle level (.365) between the level of students' moral maturity and their attitudes towards the DKAB course. It was concluded that attitudes towards the DKAB course were a significant predictor of moral maturity. Key Words: Morality, moral maturity, attitude, the DKAB course attitude.
