Entrepreneurship characteristics and work values of students: a comparison of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey

This thesis aims to measure thoughts and perceptions of university students from different countries about entrepreneurship and work values as they are the potential entrepreneurs. From here, the point that different Turkish communities reached in terms of entrepreneurship will be explained by relating it to the young generation students? perception of entrepreneurship. Additionally, the importance attributed to the work and work values in different countries is displayed. In the introductory chapter of this thesis, the aim, importance, scope and the method and the limits of the thesis take place. This thesis consists of three main chapters. In the first chapter, after making a literature review terms related to entrepreneurship, historical development of entrepreneurship, factors affecting entrepreneurship, reasons for success in entrepreneurship and social and cultural characteristics that affects entrepreneurship are examined. In the second chapter, values and definition of values, characteristics of values, functions and classification of values, comparison of values to beliefs and ideologies, work values are investigated. In the third chapter, the results of the research that measures the perception about the entrepreneurship and work values of the students from different departments of Sakarya University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences and from different faculties in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are displayed. According to this, although they are of the same origin, there are differences in terms of entrepreneurial characteristics and work values of the students from different countries. The major reason for this is the difference between the processes of modernization of this countries as well as differences in their political and economic experiences.
