Examination of the relationship between students' attitudes towards music lesson and problem solving skills

In this study, the relationship between middle school students ' attitudes towards music and problem solving skills was examined. In the research, correlational methods were used from descriptive statistics methods. The universe of the study included secondary school students, a sample group of 5, 6, 7 and 8 students studying in secondary schools in the Ergani District of Diyarbakir province in the 2020-2021 academic year. the class consists of students. A total of 311 students, 199 of whom were girls (64%) and 112 were boys (36%), participated in the study. Of the students enrolled, 52 were on grade level 5th (16.7%), 84 were on grade level 6th (27%), 102 were on grade level 7th (32.8%), and 73 were on grade level 8th (23.5%). In the study, two different scales were applied:" Music Lesson attitude scale "and" problem solving inventory for children". Research, the information collected from the participants through the survey was interpreted by SPSS data analysis method, statistical analysis was analyzed by pearson moments multiplication coefficient. When the data is examined, it is seen that there is a positive and significant relationship between the positive attitudes of middle school students towards music lesson and problem solving skills. r = .374, p < .01. In addition, students ' positive attitudes to music and problem solving are at a moderate level with confidence from the lower dimensions (r= .406, p<.01), with self-control (r= .926, p<.01) at a high level, with avoidance (R= .291, p<.01) a low level of positive and significant relationship is observed. According to these results, problem solving levels increase as students ' positive attitudes towards music lessons increase.
