Examination of factors influencing learners' intention using online learning platforms and their usage behavior continuity

The aim of this study is to examine the variables that influence the learners' intention of using online learning platforms and usage behavior continuity to evaluate relationships between variables with a model proposal and to determine the predictive power of the model. For this purpose, a technology acceptance model in which the the learners' intention of using online learning and usage behavior continuity had been defined was developed. The participants of this doctorate study were learners from Anadolu University Open Education System. During scale develeopment process, 1001 participants for exploratory factor analysis and 1001 participants for confirmatory factor analysis, totally 2002 participants were involved. During model development process data were collected from 1314 participants. In the analysis, for exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, SPSS and AMOS, for the analysis of the last date SmartPLS were used. As a result of the factor analysis, a scale consisting of eleven factors represented by 42 items was developed. Structural equation modeling results confirmed the fact that the 11-construct model explained 49.8% of perceived usefulness, 30.3% of perceived ease of use, 39.4% of intention, and 52.4% of usage behavior continuity and all 12 hypotheses were supported. Analyzes on the predictive power of the model showed that the predictive power of the model was over avarage. Thanks to the model, it is considered to be efficient to determine the expectations of the learners from online learning, help the learners get used to online learning and ensure the continuity of their use of online learning.
