Examining the relationship between learned helplessness and life satisfaction: A study on female unemployed university graduates

The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between learned helplessness and life satisfaction in the context of university graduate unemployed women. In addition, to examine these variables according to demographic factors. The sample of the study consists of 260 university graduate unemployed women in Hatay province. Questionnaire method was used as one of the data collection methods in the study. In the study, Personal Information Form, Learned Helplessness Scale and Life Satisfaction Scale were applied. In the analysis of the data, frequency analysis, normality test, reliability analysis, t test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis were used. Learned helplessness did not show a significant difference in terms of education levels, but when analysed in terms of marital status, it was found that it varied according to being married and single. There was an insignificant relationship with the duration of unemployment and a significant relationship with the hope of finding a job. A significant difference was found between life satisfaction and education level and marital status. It was found that there was insignificant relationship between life satisfaction and duration of unemployment. However, when analysed in terms of the hope of finding a job, it was found that there was a significant relationship with life satisfaction. It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between learned helplessness and life satisfaction and learned helplessness predicted life satisfaction at a significant level.
