The investigation of graduate theses subjected learning strategies

In this study it is aimed to analyze and visualize general tendencies of graduate theses about learning strategies written between the years of 2000-2014. This research in which qualitative research method is used, carried out via 114 graduate thesis about learning strategies which can be reached over with full text Higher Education Council Natioanal Theses Centre. The Form of Evaluation Thesis With the Subject of Learning Strategies which is formed by twenty four items has been used as a means of data collection. These graduate thesis which were included in the study through this form were examined in terms of the year of the study, the university, the sample, sampling selecting method, the method of the study, research design, the data collection tools, validity-reliability studies and analysis techniques. In this study, data analysis was carried out with content analysis. The research results can be summarized as follows : • Most of the theses were produced in 2006 among the other years. • It is observed that the field in which learning strategies were most studied is language education. • Depending on the results from the research mostly quantitative methods are preferred and the interest for the qualitative research method is insufficent. • For the last five years, there has been an increase in using mixed methods. • Generally, university students were used in the group of samples of the researchs. • Simple random technique was the most preferred sampling technique. • Most of the studies used '201 and over' subject in their samples. • Statistical techniques; descriptive statistics, t-test, Anova techniques were mostly used. • According to the results survey research was mostly used. • It is understood that the studies related to teaching learning strategies are less than the others. In these studies the point of view to learning strategies were generally evaluated. • It is observed that it isn't given any information about realiability and validity studies in nearly one-third of studies. • The most preferred data gathering instruments were scales. • Cronbach alpha coefficient is mostly used as the technique of reliability analysis.
