The views of the instructor and students about the level realization for assessment aplications in the process of curriculum

The aim of this research is to determine the expected assessment tasks is realized or not by instructors at various stages of learning and teaching processes. The survey was carried out by taking both students? and instructors? opinions. By taking students? opinions, it was aimed at finding out how the expected tasks are realized by instructors. In addition, by taking the views of instructors, it was aimed to conclude how often those tasks are carried out.In this study, the survey method was used to describe the existing situation. For data collection the questionnaire that was developed by Nartgün (2009) has been used to determine students' opinions. For detecting staff views, a questionnaire was developed by the researcher by using the items of a questionnaire previously developed by Nartgün (2009). The content validity of the questionnaire was provided by experts.The questionnaires designed in accordance with the purpose of the study were administered on 456 students and 68 instructors at the Faculty of Education of Trakya University in 2009-2010 academic years. The results of each item in the questionnaire were analyzed separately as percentage and frequency values.The findings from the students? views revealed that the majority of teaching staff could not exactly fulfill the expected tasks related to assessment at the beginning of teaching process, during the teaching process and performance-based assessment. However, less than half of instructors stated that they realize the expected tasks at the beginning of teaching process or during the process. When the instructors? opinions about performance-based assessment were analyzed, it was seen that most of them claimed they realize all the expected tasks.When all findings handled as a whole it was found that there are some differences between the students? and instructor? opinions about the assessment tasks expected to realize by instructors in the teaching process.Key Words: Assessment, Learning-Teaching Process, Instructor, Student
