Investigation of information literacy levels of teacher candidates

With the increase in the developments in information and communication technologies, the acquisitions and competencies that the person who processes information should have in information processing have increased. For this reason, the information literacy levels that individuals should have should be reviewed. This study was conducted in order to examine the information literacy levels of teacher candidates. In this study, the information literacy levels of the participant individuals included in the study were examined according to various variables. The study is designed in a descriptive pattern. In the examination made according to the programs; It was observed that the computer and instructional technologies education program had the highest level of information literacy and the classroom teaching program had the lowest level of information literacy. According to the study findings; the older the person is, the more information literate. Information literacy levels of individuals with high income are also high. It was observed that people who stated that they frequently made research on obtaining information were more information literate. In examining the level of information literacy by gender; There was no significant difference between male and female individuals. According to the findings; It is recommended to revise the education plans of the programs by determining the deficiencies in the target audience. In terms of improving the information literacy level of individuals; The expenditures of people with low socio-economic status on education expenditures can be covered by various scholarship grants. In this framework, all elements that encourage individuals to learn can be operated well, and people can be informed and conscious.
