Determination of pre-service teachers' perception levels of children's rights, benevolence value and emphathy skills

In this study, it was aimed to examine pre-service teachers' perception levels of children's rights, benevolence value and empathy skills in line with various variables. In line with these variables, (department of science, grade level, gender, number of siblings, monthly income of the family, educational status of the family, participation in any activity related to children, cooperative working status, being helpful) it was determined whether the teacher candidates showed a significant difference in their knowledge. In the present study, as Data Collection Tools; "Attitude Scale Towards Children's Rights" created by Kepenekçi (2006); "Helpfulness Attitude Scale" created by Aktepe; The "Empathy Tendency Scale" created by Dökmen (1988) was used. In the research; Personal Information Form developed by the researcher in order to access the personal information of teacher candidates is also among the data collection tools. Research; In the 2021-2022 academic year, Science Education Department, which continues its education at Uludağ University Education Faculty, located in Görükle district of Bursa province 1.2.3.4. class 128 teacher candidates and Social Studies Teaching 1.2.3.4. The study was carried out with a total of 257 people, with the participation of 129 pre-service teachers. The analysis of the data obtained from 257 participants as a result of the research was evaluated with appropriate statistical methods in the IBM SPSS Statistics 22 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL) program. Independent Sample T Test was used in the comparisons of two groups for the scale total scores showing normal distribution in the scales used in the research, and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) analysis was used in the comparisons of more than two groups. Scheffe test was applied when the variances were homogeneous in case of significant difference in the comparisons of more than two groups, and Tamhane's T2 test was used when the variances were not homogeneous. It has been determined that there is no missing value in the data. In addition, Pearson Correlation analysis was used to determine whether there was a relationship between quantitative variables. Considering the total results of the current research; It has been determined that there is a positive, significant and moderate relationship between the Benevolence Attitude Scale score, the Attitudes towards Children's Rights Attitude Scale score and the Empathic Tendency Scale score. When the relationship between the scales applied to teacher candidates studying in the Department of Social Studies Teaching and in the Department of Science Education is examined; It has been determined that there is a positive, significant and moderate relationship between the Benevolence Attitude Scale score and the Attitude towards Child Rights Attitude Scale score. A significant, positive, moderate relationship was found between the Helpfulness Attitude Scale score and the Empathic Tendency Scale score. It has been determined that there is a positive, significant and weak correlation between the Attitudes towards Child Rights Scale score and the Empathic Tendency Scale score.
