Examining of pre-service teachers' digital ethic and multicultural literacy attitudes

Education is one of the first areas affected by the changes arising from economic, technological, political and socio-cultural events in the world. Education system, teachers and pre-service teachers preparing for this profession have duties for educating individuals who can adapt to the change that occurs and changes do not cause suffering. It can be said that increasing the number of individuals with different characteristics and pysical and digital life has gained a structure consisting of individuals with different cultural characteristics in our country where the effects of digitalization, globalization and international migration continue. In this aspect, pre-service teachers who will practice the teaching profession in the future, to have attitudes and skills related to the basic requirements such as "protecting the professional reputation in physical and digital life, being student-centered, respecting human rights and differences" required by the teaching profession competencies and responsibilities within the scope of digital ethics is important. The aim of this study is to examine pre-service teachers's digital ethic and multicultural literacy attitudes. In this research parallel mixed method, one of the mixed methods was used. The sample of the study consists of pre-service teachers studying in Dicle and Siirt University in the 2020-2021 academic year. The study group consisted of 27 pre-service teachers. The quantitative research data collected from "Digital Ethic Attitude Scale" and "Multicultural Literacy Attitude Scale" developed by the researcher and the personal information form in which the demographic data of pre-service teachers The qualitative research data collected from semi-structured interview form for pre-service teachers Despriptive statistics and non-pametric tests were used to analyze the quantitative data. The despriptive analyze was used to analyze the qualitative data. According to quantitative research results, it was determined that pre-service teachers' attitude towards digital ethics and multicultural literacy are at the level of "totally agree". No significant difference was observed in the attitude towards digital ethics of pre-service teachers according to the variables of parent's education status and family's monthly income. The analysis of the pre-service teachers digital ethic attitudes according to the variables of gender and daily internet usage time showed that there was a significant differentiation. In the study, significant differences were observed the attitude towards multicultural literacy of pre-service teachers according to variable of gender in all sub-dimensions of multicultural literacy and overall scale; according to mother's education status variable in " respect and equality in cultural differences" sub-dimension; according to father's education status variable in "respect in gender differences" sub-dimension pre-service teachers' attitude towards to multicultural literacy. According to qualitative research results, it was observed that the majority of the pre-service teachers stated that they had digital responsibilities and all of the pre-service teachers comply with the digital ethical rules. Moreover, it was observed that pre-service teachers stated that there are deficiencies in the society in terms of complying with digital ethical rules and having digital responsibility. It was observed that the majority of pre-service teachers stated that they have a multicultural literate attitude regarding the themes of multicultural literacy, "Cultural Awareness, Respect and Equality in Cultural Differences, and Gender Discrimination"; all of the pre-service teachers had a multicultural literate attitude towards the theme of "Respect for Linguistic Differences". However, it was observed that the majority of pre-service teachers stated that there were deficiencies in their views on the society regarding the themes of multicultural literacy, "Gender Discrimination and Respect and Equality in Cultural Differences".
