Investigating the relationship between candidate teachers' self-directed learning with technology and online information searching strategies

This research was conducted to investigate the relationship between technology and self-directed learning and online information search strategies of prospective teachers studying at Sakarya University Faculty of Education. In this study, relational scanning model was used. Necessary evaluations and comments were made by analyzing the data collected in this direction. The population of the research consists of the pre-service teachers who are studying in Sakarya University Faculty of Education in 2017-2018 academic year. It consists of 571 students selected by Stratified Sampling among students enrolled in all programs. The data collection tools were developed by Teo, Tan, Lee, Chai, Koh and Chen (2010) and developed by Tsai (2009) and the 6-item self-directed learning scale developed by Tercan, Horzum and Uysal (2014). It consists of an inventory of 25 items of Online Information Search Strategies adapted to Turkish by Mazman (2013). As a result of the research, it was concluded that pre-service teachers' self-directed learning showed a significant difference according to gender, department and personal computer status, while online information search strategies showed a significant difference according to department and personal computer status, but no significant difference was found in terms of gender variable. . In addition, there is a significant relationship between technology and self-directed learning and online information search strategies. Details of the analyzes are explained in the content.
