Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between work-life balance and school academic optimism. The population of the research, in which relational research and causal comparison methods were used, consists of teachers working in public schools in Adıyaman center and Kahta districts in the 2021/2022 academic year. The sample of the study consists of 715 teachers and simple random sampling method was used while determining this sample. "School Academic Optimism Scale" and "Work-Life Balance Scale" were used as data collection tools. Standard deviation and arithmetic mean values were taken into account in the interpretation of descriptive analyses. In the analysis of demographic variables, it was checked whether the data were normally distributed and whether the variances were homogeneous. In cases where the data were normally distributed and the variances were homogeneous, t-test and Anova test were performed. When a significant difference was found in the Anova tests, the LSD test was used to understand between which groups this difference was. In cases where the hypotheses were not met, the Kruskal-Wallis H test was performed. When a significant difference was found in the Kruskal-Wallis H tests, the Mann Whitney U test was used to understand between which groups this difference was. In addition, when a significant difference was detected, the effect size was calculated and the degree of effectiveness of the independent variable on the dependent variable was measured. Correlation analysis was used to determine the relationship between the variables, and multiple regression analysis was used when calculating the relationship between the predictor variable and the predicted variable. In terms of work-life balance, teachers' perceptions of the positive effect of work on life (Iyole), the positive effect of life on work (Yiole), and the negative effect of work on life (Iyose) are moderate; It has been determined that the negative impact of life on work (Yiose) dimension is at a low level. In terms of school academic optimism, it has been determined that the perceptions of teachers participating in the research are at a very high level in the dimension of self-efficacy, moderate in the dimension of trust, moderate in the dimension of academic emphasis, and high in the total score of optimism. In terms of work-life balance, no significant difference was found according to the variables of branch, seniority, number of teachers at school and number of students at school. There was a significant difference in favor of male teachers in terms of gender variable, and a significant difference in favor of preschool teachers between preschool teachers and both primary and secondary school teachers according to school level variable. In terms of school academic optimism, a significant difference was determined according to the variables of gender, branch, seniority, school level, number of teachers in the school and the number of students in the school. A positive and low-level relationship between school academic optimism and the positive impact of work on life (Iyole) and the positive impact of life on work (Yiole); A negative and low level relationship was found between the dimensions of the negative impact of work on life (Iyose) and the negative impact of life on work. Work-life balance was found to be a low predictor of school academic optimism. As a result, a low level relationship was determined between work-life balance and school academic optimism.
