Elective Qquran lesson according to teachers' opinions-A qualitative research-

The main goal of this thesis dealing with the Quran teachers' thoughts about the curriculum, aims, objectives, content, learning process, feasibility and the evaluation of Quran lessons is to determine the ideas of Quran teachers on the field; to release the problems they face and to make some useful suggestions. It is used a qualitative methood in this study. It is benefitted from the situational research and cultural analysis papers. In 2016 between July and December made interviews with 26 volunteered teachers teaching all around the Turkey. The data used in this study is obtained from the semi-standardized surveys. And then those surveys are carefully analysed, interpreted and evaluated. At the end of the study, according to the teachers' point of view, it is clearly understood that the curriculum of Quran lesson is not sufficient enough; the lesson is chosen by the student him/herself, their parents and the school management. On the other hand, the willingness of the students is more efficient and the Quran lessons more or less affects the moral and ethics of the students in a positive way. On the other hand, teachers face some problems such as; crowded classrooms; unsufficient background of students and the level differences among them moreover the unwillingness and the ignorance of the students as it is an elective lesson; inadequate classroom atmosphere; the non efficient classroom management; the students expectations and the unconsciousness of the parents. An other results is that: It is necessary that Quran teachers are supposed to be sincere, energetic and willing to learn new things; make students love the lesson and draw students attention; make teacher- parent connection; realise the students' capacity well take care of the studens individually make lessons more attractive and not to make pressure over students' grades.
