Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to search the effectiveness of the teacher training programmes in reducing the reality shock with the help of novice teachers' opinions. Participants were 33 teachers who work in high schools in Elazığ. In this study semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. In this study It has been found that novice teachers experience reality shock due to students and their parents. It has been revealed that there are vital differences between the experiences of teachers before and after starting the job. Moreover according to the findings obtained from the research, one of the most important reasons of the reality shock is the lack of practising in pre-service training and the inability of pre-service training in preparing the student teachers for the real class and school atmosphere. By the help of participants' views it has been found that to reduce reality shock, it is neccessary to increase the intensity of recitaion , train the student teachers for the possible evets and situations that they will experiencein duty and educate them about the process of school management, paperwork and fiiling class book. Based on these results, suggestions have been offered to the policy makers and researchers about the teacher training.
