Investigation of the relationship between the ethical conduct of teachers and organizational commitment

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between teachers' ethical conduct and organizational commitment. In the 2022-2023 academic year, 400 teachers working in official primary, secondary and high schools in Trabzon city center and Akçaabat, Arsin, Yomra, Araklı, Sürmene districts constitute the sample of the study. The correlational survey model was preferred in the study and "Personal Information Form", "Teacher Ethical Behaviors Scale" and "Organizational Commitment Scale" were used to collect the data. With the data obtained, t-Test, ANOVA and Correlation analyses were performed using the statistical program. According to the results of the study, the ethical conduct scale received the highest score, while the forced commitment dimension of the organizational commitment scale received the lowest score. In addition, the results of the study were analyzed in terms of several variables. According to the gender variable, there is a significant difference only in the moral dimension of the organizational commitment scale. Regarding the age variable, a significant difference was found in the enforced commitment dimension of the organizational commitment scale. In terms of tenure, there is a significant difference in the manipulative dimension of the organizational commitment scale. In terms of branch groups, there is a significant difference in the ethical conduct scale and in the forced commitment and manipulative commitment dimensions of the organizational commitment scale. According to the school type variable, a significant difference was found only in the forced commitment dimension of the organizational commitment scale. As a result of the research, when the relationship between teachers' ethical conduct and organizational commitment was examined, it was found that there was a negative, weak and significant relationship between the ethical conduct scale and the forced commitment dimension of the organizational commitment scale, but there was a positive, moderate and significant relationship between the ethical conduct scale and the moral commitment dimension of the organizational commitment scale.
