Problems that teachers confronted in the process of practicing the science and technology program and solution offers

Science lesson that is practiced in Primary School 1st grade is being changed its name to Science and Technology Lesson with the decision that is taken by Ministry of Education by reconfiguring in 2004 year in Turkey and by this way many innovations come within in structure and application of program and its practices are based on Science-Technology-Society (STS) education.With this research, it is aimed to determine the problems that Classroom teachers and Science and Technology teachers confronted while practicing the process and to determine the expectations, demands and solution offers related with this program.?Problems that teachers confronted in the process of practicing the Science and Technology Program and solution offers? survey which is prepared for the purpose of collecting research data is applied to 70 science and technology teachers and 255 classroom teachers who are educating 4. and 5. grade students totally in 176 primary schools in Çekerek, Saraykent, Sorgun and Kadışehri, Şefaatli counties of Yozgat city.Data that is collected with survey is analyzed with SPSS 15 program. T-test, one-way Anova and Scheffé test is applied in the statistical analyses of sub-problems.At the end of the research, findings which are obtained are summarized as follows:While some meaningful difference is seen for some variables between the views of teachers according to the targets, content, education level, assessment and technological development, there are not meaningful difference in some other variables.It is decided that teachers are taking a bright view of Science and Technology Lesson, but they have some problems in applying it. Not having enough equipment in schools to apply the program in an effective way, not being instructed sufficiently about the program, lacking of sample practices in textbooks and study books are the most problems that are highlighted by teachers.
