Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine the behavioural factors of the principals based on the opinions of teachers and to evaluate these behavioural factors in terms of independent variables. Survey model was used in the research. The population of the research is 3553 classroom and branch teachers working in Yeşilyurt central district of Malatya province in 2014-2015 academic year. The sample of the study is 508 teachers selected with stratified sampling. Principals' Behaviour Factors Scale developed by the researcher was used with the aim of collecting data. The scale consist of five dimensions including personal, technological, environmental, bureaucratic and political. The scale consists of 25 questions related with the principals' behaviour factors. Also 5 more questions related with participants' personal information were asked to the participants. The data were collected with the 5 point likert scale. For the analysis of the data obtained, SPSS 21.0 software was used and primarly descriptive statistical calculations was made. In order to determine whether there is a significant difference between the gender and branch of the teachers' on the behaviour factors of the principals the t- test was used. Cohen's (d) value was also calculated for the effect size. In order to determine whether there is any significant difference in teachers' opinions in terms of seniority and school type variables, One-Way ANOVA test was used. In situations where significant differences were determined, Scheffe and Dunnet C tests were used in order to determine the source of this significant difference. Fort the groups with significant differences, Eta- square correlation coefficient (η2) values for the effect size were also calculated. According to the descriptive statistics analyses, according to the teachers while personal, technological and bureaucratic factors affect the behaviour of the principals ''highly'', environmental and political factors affect ''moderately'' As a result of the analysis of the independent variables, according to the opinions of the teachers, the behaviour factors of the principal in terms of gender variable showed significant differences in the technological dimension. It was found that the variable of gender had small effect size on principals' behavior in terms of technological dimension. According to the opinions of the teachers, the behaviour factors of the principals in terms of branch variable showed significant differences in the personal and political dimension. Variable factors on the size of personal dimension "moderate" effect size, political dimension on the size of "small" is determined to have the effect size. According to the opinions of the teachers, the behaviour factors of the principal in terms of seniority variable showed significant differences in the personal dimension. It was determined that the calculated effect size is "small". According to the opinions of the teachers, the behaviour factors of the principal in terms of school type variable, showed significant differences in bureaucratic, personal, and political dimensions. It was determined that these differences is "small" in terms of effect size. Some suggestions have been made based on the results obtained from the research.
