The relationship between teachers' management tendency and their principals' views regarding course supervision competencies

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between teachers' management orientations and opinions of their headmasters' regarding instructional supervision competency. The model of research is descriptive and correlational model of quantitive research methods. Population of this research consist of 4485 teachers who are working at kindergarten, primary, secondary and high schools that are state schools in Manisa province, Yunusemre and Şehzadeler subprovinces in 2020-2021 Academic Year. The sample of this research is consisted 402 teachers from the same subprovinces who are determined by proportional cluster sampling method. "Management Tendency Scale" has developed by Yavuz (2001) is used to measure teachers' management orientations and "Instructional Supervision Scale" has developed by Yavuz (2020) is used to determine the lecture supervision adequacies of headmasters'. According to results; it's determined that the perception of teachers regarding decentralization in school is at high level. The type of school they work, genders, ages, branches, total term time and total term time at school don't affect teachers' perception meaningfully. But it's determined that the perception of teachers' to centralized management is at low level. Accordingly type of school they work, genders, ages, branches, total term time and total term time at school don't affect their perception to centralized management meaningfully. Teachers' perception to their headmasters' supervision of lecture adequacy is determined at medium rate. Although the school they work at, genders, ages and branches don't affect teachers' perception of their headmasters' lecture supervision adequacy meaningfully; total term time and total term time at school affect headmasters' perception to supervision of lecture meaningfully. When the relationship between teachers' management orientation and headmasters' lecture supervision adequacy opinions are analyzed; teachers who have decentralization management orientation have found their headmasters' supervision of lecture adequacies are higher than the teachers who have centralization management orientation.
