Investigating teachers' perceptions of organizational silence in terms of various variables: A meta-analysis

This study aims to investigate influence of teachers' gender, experience and field on their perceptions of organizational silence. YÖK Thesis Center, ProQuest, EBSCohost, Google Scholar, and Turkish National Academic Web and Information Center were scanned, and 83 studies for gender, 55 studies for experience, and 28 studies for field variables were included in this research to conduct the meta-analysis. Sample sizes of the variables were 29058 for gender, 19597 for experience, and 11194 for field. Comprehensive Meta Analysis Ver. 2.2.064 (CMA) was used to analyze the data. The results showed that there was no publication bias in the studies for all variables. The analysis conducted according to the random effects model revealed that the general effect size of the gender variable (d=0.00), the general effect size of the experience variable (d= -0.07) and the effect size of the field variable (d=-0.06) on teachers' perceptions of organizational silence were weak and non-significant. As a result of the moderator analyzes for all variables, non-significant results were obtained. Generally, the study revealed that the characteristics of teachers such as gender, experience, and field had no effect on their perception of organizational silence or were at a very weak level. When the effect of research characteristics on research findings is examined; it was seen that the type of grade, publication type, school type, teacher's field, the region where the research was conducted and the gender of the researcher did not have a moderator effect.
