Investigation of the relationship between political skills of teachers and use of conflict management strategies

This study is a relational survey model conducted to search the conflict management strategies and political skill levels of teachers. The population of the research is 4685 teachers who work in Gaziantep, Şahinbey and Şehitkâmil central districts, public primary and secondary schools in 2017-2018 academic year. The schools in the sample of the study were determined by simple random sampling method which is the sampling type in which the clusters were chosen as neutral. The sample of the research consists of 397 teachers. Quantitative data were collected through Personal Information Form, Political Skill Scale and Conflict Management Strategies Scale. Quantitative data were analyzed by using SPSS. Cronbach's Alpha coefficients were examined to measure the consistency of the items. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of the Political Behavior Scale was found as .93 and the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of the Conflict Management Strategies Scale was found as .83. The data of teachers' perceptions of political skill behaviors and conflict management strategies were analyzed in terms of arithmetic mean and standard deviation. Regression analyzes were performed to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between the variables. According to the findings of the research, it is seen that teachers seem to be more sincere than political skills, and at least to establish a relationship network; Among the conflict management strategies, it is determined that they use integration strategy the least and dominance. According to the results of the research; looking sincere; it is a significant predictor of integration and reconciliation strategies.As a result of the research, establishing a relationship network; avoidance, rule and adherence strategies. In the research strategy of social intelligence; it seems that sincerity appears to be a significant predictor of compliance strategies. At the end of the research, considering the preference of sincerity from the sub-dimensions of teachers' integration conflict management strategy and political skills, studies and researches should be conducted to improve the sincerity of these teachers and their approach to integration management conflict.
