The relationship between teachers' social capital levels and their psychological opinions

The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between secondary school teachers' views on social capital and psychological ownership. In the study, it was also examined whether the views of teachers differ according to various personal variables. Relational screening model was used in the research. In data collection; personal information form, social capital scale and psychological ownership scale were used. The universe of the research consisted of 1112 teachers working in public secondary schools in Bolu in the 2021-2022 academic year. 361 teachers from this universe participated in the research. Data were collected with online scales. SPSS 22.0 package program was used in the analysis of the data. In descriptive statistics, arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were calculated. Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test and Spearman Rho Correlation analyzes were used to analyze the data. According to the research findings; The opinions of the teachers participating in the study on social capital and psychological ownership are at the level of "I agree". The regionalism sub-dimension of the psychological ownership scale differed from the scale totals and other sub-dimensions with "I partially disagree". In the study, teachers' views on social capital differed significantly in terms of gender and school location variables. In terms of psychological ownership; psychological ownership to the gender variable across the scale; In the regionalism sub-dimension, there were significant differences according to the variables of education level, graduated faculty, professional seniority, the length of time worked at the current school, the place of residence of the school, and in the accountability sub-dimension, according to the variable of professional seniority. In the study, low and medium level, positive relations were also determined between social capital and its sub-dimensions, psychological ownership and sub-dimensions -except for the regionalism dimension. A low level of negative relationship was found between the sub-dimension of regionalism and social capital and its sub-dimensions. Based on the findings, various suggestions were developed.
