Existentialism in Oğuz Atay's novels

Existentialism is a philosophical movement whose boundaries are not precisely defined, but whose domain is extremely broad and whose definition may differ from philosopher to philosopher. Especially from the beginning of 20th century ,which influenced deeply European intellectual life, there is no exact consensus on the names among the representatives of this movement,. On the other hand, the names of the philosophers who are mentioned in the movement of existentialism are: Kierkegaard, Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger, Jean Paul Sartre, Karl Jaspers, Albert Camus, Gabriel Marcel, Maurice Merleau - Ponty ... These names can be added to or emitted from this group, general opinion is that, these names are the representatives of the Existentialism movement. Existentialism has been brought into the field of literature by philosophers especially like Jean Paul Sartre and Albert Camus, and so has become so intertwined with literature unlike any other philosophical movement. Another reason for the intense intertwinement between existentialism and literature is that the philosophers whose names are mentioned in Existentialism intensively use names of the existentialist elements contained in the works of Russian writer Dostoyevsky.The existentialist movement, which has deeply influenced many writers in Turkish Literature, begins to appear often in our literature especially after 1950's. The aim of this research is to reveal dense use of existentialist elements in the novels of Oğuz Atay's "Tutunamayanlar" and "Tehlikeli Oyunlar". For this purpose, we first studied existentialism from primary sources and found existentialist phenomena in the direction of the cognizance obtained from these readings, and we identified these phenomena on the subject novels.
