Abstract (EN)

In this study, erythrocyte glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and glutathione reductase (GSH-Rd) enzymes activity of 60 people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and 21 healthy persons as control group were determined using UV-spectrophotometer and erythrocyte oxidized glutathione (GSSG) and reduced glutathione (GSH) amounts were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).While GSSG amounts of people diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes were higher than control group, amounts of GSH were found to be lower than the control group (p<0.005).In the same way, both GSH-Px and GSH-Rd activities in erythcrocytes of type 2 diabetes were found to be lower than the control group (p<0.005).In conclusion, it can be said that, increase of GSSG amount, GSH-Px and GSH-Rd activities with decrease of GSH amount of type 2 diabetics can be expressed by oxidative stress. Keywords: GSH, GSSG, GSH-Px, GSH-Rd, Type 2 diabetes
