Relationships between school climate and organizational cynicism

This research, in which teachers are investigated for the relationship between school climate and organizational cynicism, is in a quantitative and screening model. In the 2021-2022 academic year, data were collected by reaching 371 teachers from the teachers working in Denizli Tavas, Kale and Merkezefendi districts with a simple random method. The highest average about teachers' perceptions of school climate is in the dimension of reckless teacher behaviors and at a high level. On the other hand, while the perceptions of cooperative teacher behaviors are high, they are at a moderate level regarding the dimensions of commanding principal behaviors, supportive principal behaviors and sincere teacher behaviors. The lowest average is in the dimension of moderately restrictive principal behaviors. It is seen that teachers' perceptions of the school climate do not differ according to their length of service and seniority, but differ according to gender, age, the level they work and the districts they work in. Teachers' perceptions of organizational cynicism have the highest and moderate behavioral dimensions. While this is followed by a low level of cognitive and affective dimensions, teachers' general cynicism levels are at a low level. It is seen that teachers' perceptions of organizational cynicism do not differ according to gender and length of service, but differ according to age, educational levels and districts where they work. It was found that restrictive principal behaviors, cooperative teacher behaviors and reckless teacher behaviors of teachers did not significantly predict organizational cynicism, while supportive principal behaviors and sincere teacher behaviors predicted organizational cynicism negatively and significantly, and commanding principal behaviors positively and significantly predicted organizational cynicism. It is recommended to take measures against the negative effects of organizational cynicism in order to increase the positive characteristics of teachers' school climate.
