Crisis management of school principals: Their attitudes in the COVID-19 process

Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to examine the crisis of management skills of school principals working in educational institutions in the Covid-19 process. This research has been built in a qualitative research design and in the phenomenology model. Semi-structured interview was used to collect data. While preparing the semi-structured interview, five experts were consulted. The working group of the research; it consists of fifteeen school principals who are working in Bayburt in the 2019-2020 academic year, actively working in our schools during the crisis caused by the Covid-19 epidemic and determined by the criterion sampling method on a voluntary basis. According to the findings of the study, it was concluded that the leadership characteristics of school principals were effective on their crisis management skills. In our study, face-to-face education was interrupted during the Covid-19 process and in distance education, the success of our school principals continued without intteruption with the crisis managements skills and the continuity of education was ensured. This process has given experience to our school principals in dealing with different types of crises. Keywords: School principal, crisis management, leadership, pandemic, epidemic.
