Abstract (EN)

This search was conducted to examine the relationship between preschool children's prosocial behaviors and their value levels. For this purpose, "Personal Information Form" including demographic information of the study group, "Child Prosociality Scale - Mother and Teacher Form", "Teacher Form" developed by Bağcı (2015) and "Preschool Values Scale" developed by Neslitürk and Çeliköz (2015) were used. The study group consisted of 313 preschool children aged 5-6 years who attended preschool independent kindergartens and kindergartens within primary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Istanbul in the 2022-2023 academic year. In this study, the relational survey model, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. The convenience sampling method was chosen to determine the study group. Independent Group t Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Post-Hoc tests Tukey, Pearson Correlation and simple standard regression analysis were used to determine the source of the difference between the groups. The level of significance in the analyses was set as (p<05). According to the findings of the research, it was determined that the value levels of preschool children differed significantly according to the variables of gender, number of siblings, parents' education level, mother's working status and occupation, and feeding animals at home. Again, children's prosocial behaviors showed significant differences according to variables such as parents' level of education, mother's working status and occupation, and feeding animals at home. As a result of the correlation analysis, it was seen that there was a positive and "high level" significant relationship between children's value levels and prosocial behaviors. The dimensions of responsibility, respect, cooperation, honesty, friendship/friendship and sharing/equality of children's value levels are significant predictors of children's prosocial behaviors.
