Examining the relationship between 21st century skills and competition styles of preschool children

The main purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between preschool children's 21st century skills and competitive styles. The research is in the screening model, which is one of the quantitative research methods. The sample of the study consists of 173 girls and 185 boys in the age group of five-six who attend pre-school education from eight official independent kindergartens. "Personal Information Form", "21st Century Skills Scale for 5-6 Years Old Children (DAY–2)" and "Preschool Competitiveness Scale" were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed using the package program. According to the research findings, children with low family income have lower 21st century skills scores than children with medium and good family income. The children who are in their second year and above in preschool education 21st century skills and competitive style scores are higher than the scores of children in their first year of preschool education. The 21st century skills scores of children whose mothers are working are higher than those of children whose mothers are not working. Children whose fathers are civil servants have higher 21st century skills scores than children whose fathers are not civil servants. As the competitive style score for the task increases, the scores for learning and innovation skills, life and career skills, knowledge, media and technology skills also increase. Twenty-first century skills and competitive styles predict each other. The competitive aggregate score increases as the twenty-first century skills aggregate score increases; As the total score of competition increases, the total score of 21st century skills increases. Discussed with the research results, In the literature, it has been determined that there is a need for studies on both subjects.
