Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the computer game addictions of pre-school children and the attitudes of their parents. The study was designed according to the relational screening model. The sample group of the study consists of 359 children who received education in the 5 to 6 age group of pre-school education institutions that are subordinated to the Directorate of National Education in the Central District of Tokat, in the 2020-2021 academic year, and their 359 parents. The tools that were used for collecting data for the study are the Personal Information Form, the Computer Game Addiction Scale for Children, and the Parental Attitude Scale. The data obtained in the study were analyzed by using Independent Samples t-Test, One-Way Analysis of Variance (One-Way ANOVA) and Pearson Correlation analysis. The results of the research show that the gender, the mother's educational attainment, the family income, the duration of using computer and tablet, and the condition of using computer and tablet cause statistically significant differences on the computer game addiction of the children. On the other hand, these results show that the age, the parents' ages, the father's educational attainment and the technological tools at the home do not cause any statistically significant difference on the computer game addiction of the children. According to the results of the research, the child's age, the parents' ages, the parents' educational attainments, the family income, the technological tools at the home and the condition of using computer and tablet cause statistically significant differences on the parental attitudes, while the gender and the duration of using computer and tablet do not cause any statistically significant difference on these. The study found that there is a low level of meaningful relationship between the computer game addiction of the children and the parental attitudes. According to this, it was determined that there was a positive, meaningful and low relationship between democratic attitude and all sub-dimensions of the scale of computer gaming dependency. It has been determined that there is a positive, meaningful and low relationship between extreme protective behavior and all sub-dimensions of the computer gaming dependency scale. While there is no correlation between the permissive attitude and the obstruction sub-size of the PC game dependency scale, there is a negative, meaningful and low level of relationship with the lower level of willingness and the amplitude of the PC game dependency scale. It has been determined that there is no relationship between authoritarian attitude and computer gaming addiction.
