The predictive power of social support perceptions to coping with stress attitudes and family stress of parents having children with in preschool

In this study, it is aimed to investigate whether the social support perceptions of the parents of children with special needs, their attitudes towards coping with stress and family stress differ according to parental gender, and also the predictive power of the perceptions of social support, the attitudes of coping with stress and family stress. The sample of the study consists of 120 mothers and fathers with special needs of 3-6 age group attending special education and rehabilitation centers of the Ministry of National Education in Manavgat, Antalya. Personal Information Form, Renewed Parent Social Support Scale, Family Stress Rating Scale and Stress Coping Attitudes Scale were applied to the parents who participated in the study. T test, Mann Whitney U Test and lineer stepwise regression analysis were used for the analysis of the variables. As a result of the study, it was determined that the social support and satisfaction levels of the parents of children with special needs predicted family stress, and that there was no predictive relationship between the levels of satisfaction with social support and social support and styles of coping with stress.
