The differences of school readness between the first grade students who get education and the students who don?t get education in primary schools

This research studies the school readiness of children attending 1.st grade by asking questions to the first grade teachers and their school readiness levels are concurrently evaluated.The universe of this study , determined by using the "General Screening Model", was of 59, children, regardless of prior preschool attendance, attending 1.st grade in 10 private and public schools, in Sarıyer districts of the İstanbul province.In this research, "The Marmara Elementary School Readiness Scale" was administered to the corresponding 1.st grade teachers in order to collect data through teacher observations on the childrens' developmental areas and stages.In this research, there are two dependent groups because of the fact that the same teacher evaluate either the students that educated in preschool or not educated in preschool. The t tests have been used in hypothesis tests which examine these two groups comperatively. It was searched whether there is a difference between these groups or not. It is also used SPSS 18.0 to analyse and evaluate the collected data.At the result of this research, it has been seen that the students who get education in preschool between either private or public school are more developed in social, emotional, self-care and physical abilities and general health conditions when compared with the students that were not educated in preschools according to their teachers.Key Words: Education, Preschool Education, Readness to School
