Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to investigate the development level of visual perception of 48-60 and 61-72 month groups of children following preschool education programs. The research sample designed based on descriptive model included 200 from official schools and 200 from private schools which are bonded to The Ministry of Education in 2014-2015 education year, totally 400 preschool students at the centers Istanbul. To determine development level of visual perception of students, Frostig Developmental test of visual perception was developed by Dr. Marianna Frostig were applied. In Frostig developmental test of visual perception, visual perception skills were analyzed under the headings of hand- eye coordination, figure- ground perception, shape stability of perception, the perception of the venue location and the perception of spatial relationships and the school readiness levels of children were determined. In the result of Frostig visual perception test, it was observed that the scores of children group of 48-60 months are significantly lower than the scores of children group of 61-72 months. It was found that 48-60 months group of children were not ready for school compared to the group of 61-72 months. When it is thought in this perspective, instead of waiting for the spontaneous development of the visual perception skills in preschool period, the applications of supportive programs at these skills are promptly needed.
