Abstract (EN)

In this research, it was aimed to investigation of the effect of memory education on children?s memory development who have attented to pre-school education who are six years old.The sample of the research, it has constituted of 52 children are selected randomly among the preschoolers attending to four kindergardens of National Education Ministry in Karabük province. 26 children, 13 males and 13 females, participated to experiment group, and 26 children, 13 males and 13 fameles, participated to control group. During the research, the pattern with pretest-posttest control group was used. For the experimental operation, it is practiced ?Memory Education Program?. Within the framework of this program, it is applied education program for experiment group which is continued two days in a week during 12 weeks period. The control group was attended to daily education program together their teachers during the same period of time.In order to get information of childrens?parents, ?General Data Form?, to evaluate the general memory, attention, learning and recognition, ?Children?s Memory Scale-CMS? which was developed by Morris Cohen (1997), was used. A trial application within the studies for adapting the scale into Turkish, it was underlying studies and in the end of this, It was accepted that scale was a valid and reliable tool for this research.Analysis of data were evaluated by SPSS 12 (Statistical Package for Social Sciences). To compare two groups, Mann-Whitney U Test for Independent Samples were used and for pre test-post test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test for Paired Samples were used. To evaluate statistical procedures, meaningfulness was researched for a level .05.In the end of the research;It is seen that general memory, attention, learning and recognition points of the children which are in experimental group are higher than before research. Applied memory education programme for experimental group is thought positive effect on children?s memory (p<.01). Applied memory education programme for children is independent than sex and parent?s education level. Whatever children?s sex and parent?s education level is, applied memory education programme for children shows us positive effect on children?s memory development.
