Özet (EN)
This study was made to investigate the storytelling skills of children attending pre-school education with unwriten picture book through the narrative analysis method. The study group consisted of 57 children attending four independent preschools of the Ministry of Education in Şahinbey and Şehitkâmil districts of Gaziantep province during the second term of the academic year 2017-2018. Data collection tools used in research are; Pragmatic Language Skills Inventory conducted by Alev (2011) in Turkish standardization study, a pictural story book named Park One Day, unwritten picture book named Doğumgünü Hediyesi and Story Narration Evaluation Form developed by Işıtan (2010). The Pragmatic Language Skills Inventory was used to determine the study group. First, 18 teachers from 4 independent preschools completed the PDBE for a total of 266 children. The aim of this to identify children with weak and strong pragmatic language skills in the study group in accordance with their scores from the PDBE. Children who scored above a standard deviation of the arithmetic mean of the inventory scores and scored under a standard deviation were identified. 57 children who attended school and volunteered to participate in the study constituted the study group of the study. One of the data collection tools of the research is the pictural story book named "Parkta Bir Gün". This book was first used by the researcher in order to get to know the children in the study group better, then the children were asked to tell this book. Shape analysis of the stories (storytelling length and storytelling speed) created through this book was made. One of the data collection tools of the research is the pictural unwritten story book named "Doğumgünü Hediyesi". The children were able to create a story by looking at the pictures, and the data obtained from these stories were evaluated with the Story Narration Evaluation Form. SPSS 22.0 statistical program was used to analyze the data. The percentage and frequency values of the story were examined in order to examine the introduction, development, conclusion, comprehension of the story, errors and evaluation questions. The data related to the story analysis (story length and storytelling rate) consist of quantitative and continuous data. Descriptive statistics of the data about story length and storytelling speed were made, and the lowest and highest scores and the arithmetic mean values were calculated. According to the results obtained from the analysis of the data, it was determined that name of story, name of characters in the story which made by children and the success of using the word of finishing were low. It is noteworthy that there are different definitions such as spacecraft, poles, rocket while promoting the place, and the reason of giving gifts as a different subject in global warming. These findings enable children to conclude that they actively use their imagination with a unwritten picture book. It has been concluded that the stories of children have a high ranking story and the story building success without getting away from the subject. Nearly all of the children mentioned the characters in the story; It is concluded that the ratio of characters that may occur as a result of a fiction such as mother, father and neighbors is low. As a result of the analysis of the shape analysis (storytelling length and storytelling speed) section of the story, it is concluded that the use of simple sentences in children's stories is more than the use of conjunctive sentences. It is concluded that there is a big difference between the average number of words used by children in their stories and the average number of different words. It was concluded that the average of the total number of utterances in children's stories and the average of the total number of fully understood words were similar.
