Thoughts of teachers and families on outdoor usage in pre-school education

It is extremely important for children to spend time in outdoors as well as indoors in the preschool period in terms of their developmental gains.On the other hand, preschool education is an important level of education which will be used safely , effectively and in various ways.The effeciency of this usage for child can be maximized ,first of all thanks to the support of the teacher and then family support ,planning and cooperation.From this point of view , the aim of this research is to examine the thoughts and mutual expectations of teachers and parents who have children attending preschool instituions about outdoor usage in preschool education.In this research , the basic qualitative research design ,which is one of the the research approaches , was used .The participants of the study are 10 preschool teachers working in 5 independent kindergardens in Bayburt and 20 parents whose children are educated in three teachers's classes.Datas were collected through personal information formand semi-structured interviews.According to the findings obtained as a result of the research , it was seen that they thought that the outdoors contributed the most to the social development of children.While all of the teachers stated that the outdoors are used in educational processes ,they mostly include games and science activities ; however , the activity types that are not included and are given very little place are in the majority.It has been determined that teachers find the outdoor conditions in schools inadequate and they almost never give place to family participation studies in outdoor.Like teachers ,families don't find outddor conditions sufficient.Although they're afraid of problems such as accidents etc.,ıt has been determined that they still have expectations from teachers who want their children to spend time outdoors and do different activities.
