Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the opinions of teachers and parents about the week of orientation in pre-school education. For this purpose, mixed method including quantitative and qualitative research methods was used. In the quantitative dimension of the study, the survey research and in the qualitative study, the case study models were used. The universe of the study consists of independent kindergartens in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts which are the central districts of Malatya province in the 2018-2019 academic year, 481 teachers working in kindergartens in primary and secondary schools and parents in these schools. The sample of the quantitative part of the research; the independent kindergarten in Battalgazi and Yeşilyurt districts consists of 194 teachers in kindergarten and 349 parents in these schools. The sample of the qualitative part of the study consisted of 34 teachers and 34 parents selected voluntarily from the above teachers and parents. In order to collect data, a teacher questionnaire to decide teachers' opinions, a parental questionnaire to decide parents' opinions, a semi-structured interview form for teachers and a semi-structured interview form for parents were developed by the researcher. Data analysis, which constitutes the quantitative dimension of the study, has been done by using a statistical package program. The distribution of teachers 'and parents' opinions about the week of adaptation in pre-school education was analyzed by using frequency, percentage and arithmetic mean. In addition, according to the age, professional seniority of the preschool teachers, the district and the type of school in which duty is performed; the parents' age, the gender of their children and the type of school, the district of residence, the educational status of the parents, the chi-square was used as a non-parametric technique in order to determine whether there is a difference between about the week of adaptation in pre-school education. The qualitative data were analyzed with the content analysis method. In the quantitative findings, it was concluded that the physical facilities of the school in and out of the classroom were partially sufficient for the implementation of the program for the adaptation of teachers' opinions, that adaptation week helped children to recognize the school's physical environment faster and perceive the school as a safe environment. It was concluded that the week of adaptation to parental opinions was important and effective in the qualitative findings, the weaknesses of this week were low in practice, the daily practice time was, the children were negatively affected from each other, the parents were not informed, the physical environment was not ready and all the children did not participate.
