Ill ABSTRACT This research was made to examine the relation between self-concept and job satisfaction of preschool teachers. The illustration of the research consists of preschool teachers who worked in the central districts of Ankara province such as Altındağ, Çankaya; Etimesgut, Keçiören, Mamak, Sincan, Yenimahalle in 2003-2004 academic year. To evaulate teacher's job satisfaction the scale of managers' satisfactionfrom job was used which was developed by Ali Balcı. The scale consists of two parts in which there are 51 points. Each pointh as choices such as "I completely agree" (5), "I agree more than avarage" (4), "I agree in avarege level" (3), "I agree less than avarege" (2) and "I don't agree at all" (1). Teachers were asked to explain their wishes for their job in the first part and the level of coming true of their wishes in the second part job satisfaction was indicated as the difference between these two criteria. It was admitted as the difference becomes low, job satisfaction gets high. To measure teachers' self-concept "Self Concept Scale" by Feriha Baymur was used. Teachers were asked 62 questions. The questionare was evaluated in five ways such as "Just Like Me"(5), "A Little Like Me" (4), "I'm Not Sure"(3), "Not Like Me" (2), "Not Like Me At All" (1). Teachers were asked to designate the level of convenience for each sentence. Curve system was formed in order to evaluate the results of self- concept and to make a compasison. According to this curve system the results of self-concept were determined as Low(248 and below), Average(249-273) and High(274 and above) and when teachers' self-concept and job satisfaction are compared, these criteria were taken into consideration. In the first part of the questionare was "Personal information Form". In this form teachers were asked questions about their age, education level, department of graduation, school they were working at the moment, seniority in occupation, seniority in the school they were working at the moment and working hours. In total 270 questionaires were delivered in the schools determined before and 235 of them were got back. In the analysis of the data collected in the research. Two Dimensional Variety Analysis was used.IV According to the results of the research, teachers with high self-concept have got higher job satisfaction compared with teachers having avarege or low self- concept in all criteria. On the other hand, it is pointed out that while satisfaction from job indicates meaningful differences according to teachers' age, type of school they are working, department of graduation, seniority in profession, it didn't show any differences in accordance with their working hours, level of education and seniority in schools they are working now.
