Pre-school teachers and teacher candidates' attitudes towards using technology in music education

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this research is to reveal the attitudes of preschool teachers and teacher candidates towards using of technology in music education. The study also aimed to determine whether pre-school teachers and pre-school teacher candidates differ significantly depending on demographic characteristics and the views of preschool teachers and teacher candidates towards using of technology in music education. The study group of this research were of the pre-school teachers studying in private, public and municipal preschool institutions in Muratpaşa, Konyaaltı, Kepez districts of Antalya province and pre-school teacher candidates from Department of Early Childhood Basic Education, Faculty of Education at Akdeniz University in the 2019-2020 academic year. The data were collected by using the "Attitude towards Using Technology in Music Education", "Open-Ended Question Survey for the Use of Technology in Music Education" and "Personal Information Form" in the study. A total of 104 pre-school teachers and 76 pre-school teacher candidates participated in the study. In this study Descriptive Statistics, Mann Whitney U, ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis, Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Content Analysis were used for statistical analysis. The result of the descriptive statistics revealed that pre-school teachers and pre-school teacher candidates have positive attitudes towards using of technology in music education. The results of Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and ANOVA tests show no significant differences between the participants with regard to being their pre-school teacher or teacher candidate, age, experience, the district, the ability of playing instruments, proficiency in music education and attitudes towards proficiency using of technology in music education. The content analysis were used to divide pre-school teachers and teacher candidates' views on the using of technology in music education into themes. The findings were discussed in the light of the literature. The limitations of the research and suggestions were provided for the future research.
